VOICES THREE CONCERT 2009
JAN 10th -
SID WILLIAMS THEATRE
Voices
Three is a musical trio featuring the combined talents
of acclaimed Vancouver Island singer/songwriters Helen
Austin, Sue Pyper and Judy Wing.
Their shows are more than a concert, they are a musical experience combining a fun mix of on-stage banter, original music, and creative comedy that explores a diversity of content and celebrates the common ground of love, humour, and friendship. Their spine tingling harmonies, witty repartee and well-crafted songs leave their audiences humming, laughing, and usually wanting more.
Voices Three have been performing together since 2006, and although their original intention was to put on a one-time show to raise their profiles funds for the Comox Valley Hospice Society, the favorable reviews and the obvious enthusiasm of their audiences have inspired these women to continue their collaboration to explore further musical opportunities.
From the edges of self-assertion to orchestrated kazoo rhapsodies, cheeky and irreverent parodies, monologue characters and X-Large humour on bathing suit pursuits, their fund raising concerts have been full of magical moments that endear these talented women to their audiences. The beautifully blended harmonies, poignant and insightful lyrics, and quirky comedic outbursts have generated many laughs based on familiar experiences.
Adding to the variety of the evenings have been the musical talents of accompanists including Bruce Wing, Brad Hawkes, and Trent Freeman. Their upcoming show in January 2009 will also welcome saxophonist Michael Schwarz and Canadian Grand Masters Fiddle Champion Patti Lamoureaux.
"I
went to the Voices Three concert last night and I just
wanted to let you know what a wonderful time I had.
The music, the banter, the songs, it was all outstanding.
I've seen a lot of great live music over the years
and this was right up there. I thought that you were
great on stage - great energy - fun and witty. I really
liked your selection of songs and was totally impressed
with your performances - you are all a wonderful talent."
